December 9, 2017 House Concert Was Great!

We were fortunate to have performances by Roger Thorson, Jason Reinglass, Dada Veda and Cayden Wood.  We also had a good turnout and were able to raise some money for the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen in Champaign. Here are some photos:

Conscious House Concert December 9,  8:00 PM











Enjoy an evening of acoustic music at the Ananda Liina Yoga and Meditation Center in Urbana.  This month the featured artists are:

  • Jason Reinglass – Singer Songwriter
  • Roger Thorson – Spiritual Songs (call response kirtan with harmonium accompaniment)
  • Dada Veda and Friends – Folk

Suggested donation: $5 (proceeds go to the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen in Champaign)

Green Island Summerfest, August 11th

We are taking our Conscious House Concert outdoors and  will hold the Green Island Summerfest on August 11th, 5- 7:00 pm.

The show will take place in the Amphitheater area on the road beside the yoga center.

Performers include:

Sam Payne and Friends – acoustic bluegrass
Vinny Santanelli – singer-songwriter, folk, blues and world music
John Coppess – Country and Western
Teaspoon Hunter – folk duo
Dada Veda and Friends – Country and Eastern

Suggested donation $5 . All proceeds will be donated to the Eastern Illinois Food Bank.

Concert Venue: Green Island eco-village on 2314 High Cross Rd. (In case of rain the show will take place in the adjacent Ananda Liina Yoga Center)

A Look at Concert No. 10

We enjoyed the sets of Todd Hazelrigg, who displayed virtuoso finger-style guitar and songs, and John Coppess accompanied by Doug Shrorer. John and Doug did acoustic country, western and cowboy songs. Take a look at this video to get a brief glimpse of this wonderful evening:

Concert No. 10 on March 18th with John Coppess, Nim Serrano, Todd Hazelrigg



On March 18th at 8:00 pm we will be presenting the 10th Conscious House Concert.  The featured performers are John Coppess, a specialist in county, western and cowboy songs and singer-songwriter Nim Serrano and Todd Hazelrigg, a folk singer-songwriter

The suggested donation is $5 and all proceeds will be donated to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)

Concert #9 Featuring The Coneflowers, February 11th 8 pm








The featured performers are an acoustic all-women’s ensemble. They are a group of fierce women who love to make music on their day off. Members of the group include accomplished local bluegrass, folk, choral, and classical musicians who sing and play everything from Iris Dement to Bob Marley to the Badgett Sisters – and often in four part harmony!

Other performers: Dada Veda (Folk-Spiritual) accompanied by John McNally.

The suggested donation is $5 and proceeds from the concert will be given to CU At Home, a charity helping the homeless people of Champaign-Urbana.

The December Concert Was Great!

The seventh Conscious House Concert was held on December 10, 2016 and it was a benefit for the water protectors at the Standing Rock Sioux reservation, fighting to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline.

The concert takes place on November 12, 2016 and begins at 8 pm.

For this month’s concert we are pleased to present The Chicadee Sermon and Whitney Bembenek (and some artists to be named later!) This concert is a benefit for the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen in Champaign. (Suggested donation $5)

About the performers:

The Chickadee Sermon is an acoustic duo based in Champaign, Illinois. The duo is comprised of Olivia Tasch and Jennifer Hood who have played together in other bands and projects for many years. The Chickadee Sermon plays original folk music as well as traditional folk songs. Their original songs take inspiration from growing up in the Illinois country-side.

Whitney Bembenek performs soul-based acoustic and acapella music.Whitney uses her continued learning about the self as well as local and global contexts to inform her music. She is greatly influenced by the sounds of Soul, R&B, Jazz, Classical, and Old Spiritual songs. While often performing solo, she looks forward to becoming part of a like-spirited and inspired musical collaboration!
